Question...can the DJ version running 4:03 be recreated from the 4:27 version?

I believe so - I cut my a version to match the dj single, but the record was too noisy to check the edit by phasing. I recall an edit in the intro, and there was probably another cut or two. If no one has more info, I can dig out my edit.

It should be noted in the database that the 4:26-4:27 version is the 45 length.

During early 1976, I remember hearing the full intro, stock 45 length of
"Disco Lady" 98% of the time on CT Top 40 radio, right from when it was
first added to the playlist. (I think AT 40 played the edit, but that wasn't
unusual for that show.) Am I unusual in that regard? Do most of you
remember hearing the edited intro version on your local Top 40 station,
which was on both the mono/stereo sides of all promo 45 copies I've ever
seen or owned?

I know that mid-70's Columbia would often send stamped stock 45 copies
as re-service promo 45 copies. Or CT Top 40 radio could've surely carted
up the longer, stock 45 version off of his "Eargasm" LP. So radio having
access to the stock 45 version wouldn't be very difficult. But something's
just not adding up for me here. I'm thinking that at least *some* (4:20)
Columbia 10281 promo 45 copies had to be made/sent out to radio in
1976. Anyone have any thoughts/information?

I have Columbia white label promo 45 3-10281/JZSS 161063 (deadwax JZSS 161063-1H) Mono/Stereo "Edited Version" with a listed time of 3:50 and actual time of 4:00.

I remember in Albany N.Y. only hearing the DJ edit on
the radio, I thought that was the way it was supposed to
sound until I picked up a stock copy much later.

My copy agrees with Tom's.

As for what version got the airplay, I can't say. I'd just
relocated to another city for my "day job" and wasn't working
in radio at the time. Never really paid enough attention to
know whether or not the edit was played.

WLS/Chicago played the edit.

My local radio station only played
the full length 45/LP length. I never even heard of a
shorter version until the CD age.
