Pat, I just timed my commercial 45, which is mono, and it does state a time of (4:01). However, I came up with an actual time of (4:05) for it.

How does the shorter 45 version compare to the longer LP
version? It seems like it's just ten seconds shorter (or
less), but so far on CD all the 45 versions listed are
either mono or electronic stereo.

My promo has the 4:01 version on one side and 3:15 (listed
and actual) on the other. Both sides mono.
At first I thought it was just an early fade at the
instrumental passage just before the last verse, but that
passage is longer (looped? edited on the long version?) on
the short version.

The database states that the 45 version on the Reader's Digest set, Green Green Grass Of Home, is mono. Unfortunately, at least on my copy, it is the same horribly rechanneled version as on the Curb Greatest Hits CD.

The LP version of Fancy is 4:14, so it sounds like the
LP fade is edited to the 3:15 promo single. I listened
to all 3 versions I have and that is what it sounds
like.
Mono promo-3:15
Stereo single 4:03
LP Version-4:14

Revisting this song: I don't have a stock copy of Fancy, but every stock copy that I see photos of does not look like they are
stereo. I could be wrong though. The database stays the longer side of the promo 45 is stereo so there may be one, but neither of my
two promos are mono. (I may have erroneously reported it stereo!) From what I can tell, there are three versions, the album version,
the single version, and the short DJ single version. The stock single version I'm guessing matches the longer side of the Capitol
promo, and on mine it's mono as PRO-4668 and is the same length as stock 45s that I see photos of, at 4:01. The shorter side is PRO-
4865. Both PRO 46668 and 4865 share the first edit which shortens the first chorus. The shorter DJ copy cuts off any other singing
after "I ain't done bad". At that point it cuts to the end instrumental. These edits are not great.

Bill- I agree with your statement that there are 3 versions. There is a 45 RPM single that is in stereo even tho it says MONO. It is
the re-issue Capitol Starline Series, #6187, matrix #545-72984 F-10. This is the one with the blue label, black sleeve with stars. I
kind of think of this series as Capitol's 80's re-issues. And yes, it is the L.P. length (4:15). I also have the Capitol Starline
series from the 70's with the tan label, target sleeve, same stock number, matrix #45-72984-B-1. This says Mono and is indeed Mono,
and is the 45 RPM single length (4:04). Stay away from the Collectables/Cema Sp. Prod. #6104. That one is horribly re-channeled. Even
worse than the the Curb CD. -Bill.
