The Bangles are getting a re-release of their 1989 album, "Everything", which will include the 7 inch remix of "In Your Room".

Interesting. I never realized that the 45 version of "In
Your Room" was a different mix (this site's database doesn't indicate a 45/LP version difference). I wonder if the commercial 45 truly was a different mix (perhaps not different enough to qualify for mention in the database). Anyone with a commercial 45 care to weigh in? Edited by Roscoe |

Just compared my 3-inch CD single against the version on my
Everything CD, and they're the same. They're not digitally identical, but they use the same analog transfer. No guarantees that the 45 is the same as the 3-inch CD single, but I'd bet a nickel that it is. The 3-inch CD single also has "Bell Jar" as its B-side. I doubt that there are two mixes of the song, just because this was the first single from Everything, and the version on Everything would have come out after the 45. |

There's a lot of crap on the radio, but there's only one Crap From The Past.

The versions on the 12-inch single, which I no longer own, included the '7" remix' and the '7" single version". The '7" single version' sounded the same to me as the LP version (the LP wasn't released until several weeks later) and is the version on both my US and Canadian 45s. I don't know which version was on the 45 in the UK, the country where the CD is being re-released.

Since it's been uncovered in another thread that there is a 45/LP mix difference with The Bangles' "Be with You", perhaps we should re-open the case here with "In Your Room" to see if it too has a 45/LP mix difference (both songs are on the band's Everything album). Can anyone who has a copy of the 45 or cassette single of "In Your Room" verify whether or not it matches the LP?

I concur with Paul C -- 7" Remix doesn't necessarily mean
that's the 45 verison. For example, on Madonna's "Keep It Togther" promo CD single, there's a Single Remix and a 7" Remix. Two drastically different mixes. But the Single Mix was the 45 and cassingle version. The 7" Remix wasn't released commercially at all. |

I went to pick up a mint copy of "In Your Room" 45 last
night and now it's gone. That's what I get for waiting. |

All current db CDs except one include a non-described (3:26-3:27)
version. The other CD has a listed (5:12) "remix". I contend that this is the same, listed (5:10) version found on the stock 12" single that Paul C used to have, and that I still do own, on Columbia 44-08170. I will augment Paul C's partial description for it from above: Side A: 1-12" Extended Version (listed time 5:10) 2-7" Remix (listed time 3:27) Side B: 1-7" Single Version (listed time 3:27) 2-12" Instrumental (listed time 3:27) I think it is now surely time to give this one the "fine tooth comb" treatment, as well as adding in both my 1988 45 and promo CD single's contents. It is now "in the queue". When more is known, I will provide an update. Edited by jimct |

I don't have the CD consisting of the 5:12 remix of The Bangles' "In Your Room", but if anybody does and would like to compare it to the 12" single version, there is a user upload of what appears to be the latter on YouTube.

Did anyone ever compare the 7" single with the 7" remix
on the 12" that Jim mentioned years ago? I'm still under the impression that all singles contain the LP version. |
