my commercial 45 for the fats domino song 'i'm walkin'
issued as imperial 5428 lists the run time on the label as 2:05 and actually does run 2:05 .....in addition, the handclaps during the intro have a lot of echo or reverb.....the cd version from the box set 'they call me the fat man' has none....pat, do any of the db cd's have the reverb on the handclap intro? |

I don't know if it was "I'm Walkin'" but I recall a conversation with Bill Inglot, then with Rhino, telling me he was aware of many different 'versions' of a Fats Domino song due to pressing plant managers adding effects, speed changes, etc. to the song. They added their own flavor to their pressings. I suppose it is conceivable that this may be one of those cases.

paul was kind enough to send me the file of 'i'm walkin'
from his bear family cd box set titled 'out of new orleans' and it contains the echo/reverb during the handclap intro...if you fade that version for 0:04 from 2:01 to 2:05 you can effectively re-create the proper vinyl 45 version.....thanks, paul for the file!! |

Just a minor update for the database on this song. The
version on Rhino's Billboard "Top R&B Hits of 1957" should be labeled as "(E)". At the intro, you can hear this master has stereo reverb that is mostly in the left channel. MM |

Reviving this thread to ask...is the version on Ace's multi-volume Imperial singles collection the correct 45 hit version?

Do American Music Legends, Greatest Hits: Walking To New Orleans and Let The Good Times Roll Vol 2 have the correct 45 version or just the Ace multi-volume Imperial singles collection?
I don't have any of the above listed and all others either are too short, no reverb or run too fast... |

Favorite two expressions to live by on this board: "You can't download vinyl" and "Not everything is available on CD."
