In case there's no thread on this, I'm creating one now.
There is a US promo of this with apparently a short edit at (3:49), a long edit at (4:56), and the LP version at (5:03). Anyone know what's extracted from the short edit (and for that matter, the long edit)? |

Doug, I only have an mp3 of the short edit but I list the
source as The Greatest Hits. So, it must be recreatable. I'll send the mp3 to you. |

Doug, isn't it amazing that this not only didn't hit the Top 40, but didn't even hit the Hot 100! Oh well, My
45 RPM single (Reprise 18685, released on 12/12/1992) states the time as 3:49, and indeed runs 3:49. As far as my limited editing skills tell me, if you are working on the L.P. version of 'Harvest Moon', CD Reprise 45057, the single has one edit at 3:07.2 to 4:14.6, or there abouts. I remember in the record store, we tried re- ordering more of the single, 'Harvest Moon' a few weeks later, and WEA/Reprise said it was already discontinued. -Bill. |

Thx, Bill. It sounds a little clunky in that spot, though. I made a smoother edit at (3:22.506) to (4:29.894),
then did a quick fade out from (3:47) to (3:50) and I think it pretty well matches the MP3 John forwarded me. I'll let the judges decide. :) Edited by sriv94 |

I ordered the promo CD single today to ensure I have the
proper short edit. I honestly don't remember the edit points or fades and want to be sure. |

I think I know why it sounds clunky. I made this edit in 2001. Back then I would delete any silence that
the L.P. (CD) started out with. The edit I made started about a second before Neil sings 'Because I'm still in love with you' @ about 3:08 or 3:09, and my notes from then say, 'Remove 1:07.4', It doesn't say anything about a fade. Then I would add 300ms of silence at the beginning, and I've kind of standardized on that 300ms of silence in the beginning on all my restoration work. But we'll see what J.W.G. comes up with when he gets his CD single. -Bill. |
