There are two mixes for this song. One has the drums up center while the
other off to the right. Anyone might know what's behind these two mixes? When and on what each was originally issued? Which one was issued on the US "Sign Of The Times/My Love" LP? I know, I ask a lot.... |

Hi David,
I can't answer your question, but will you name me a couple of CDs that have the drums off to the right so I can compare. My current go-to version happens to be the centered drums version. Thanks! Andy |

Hi Andrew,
I have Rhino's "The British Invasion: The History Of British Rock Vol. 7" which has this different mix. I also have it on UK PRT CD "Downtown: The Petula Clark Collection". My center drums mix (the one I prefer) is on UK Sequel #- CD set "I Love To Sing The Best Of Petula Clark". |

Thanks David.
I don't own the original 'My Love' LP, but I do own the 'Petula Clark's Greatest Hits' LP released a year-and-a- half later in the US and it has the center-drums mix. Thanks for pointing out that the Rhino disc, which I own, has the right-side drums mix. Andy |

I presume in context that the OP refers to stereo mixes.
As an addendum to this discussion, there is also a mono mix which appears on these import CDs: The Most Of Petula Clark (EMI Australia, 1994) The Sixties EP Collection (Sequel, 2000) |

Interesting find. I wonder if the centered-drums version is the 45 & LP version, and the other is just some alternate mix (or UK-only mix). It seems that if the 45 and LP had different mixes, someone would have caught it by now. But that theory could be wrong!

I've never been a particularly big fan of hers, and haven't compared a fold-down to the 45, but to me at least some of her songs seem to be different mixes between mono & stereo. Several of her 1966 songs (including "My Love") fall into that category, but the stereo is quite wide on ML so it might just be the separation. |
