Hi. Was doing some spelunking on iTunes and saw that they have a version of the CD Man Of Colours with three different lengths of "Crazy"--one that runs (3:23), one that runs (4:47) [the "Midnight Mix"] and one that runs (7:19) [the 12" version]. It is safe to assume the (3:23) version is the U.S. 45 version? (This appears to be licensed from Diva Records Pty Ltd.)
Thanks. I'll hang up and listen for my answer. :) |

My cd of "Man Of Colours" features as track 1 the LP version of Crazy which runs (4:47) as does the vinyl LP of the same name. Was this cd reissued with the 45 version of Crazy substituted for the LP version or is Itunes taking their own liberty by making the digital version of "Man Of Colours" an altered version of the original vinyl and cd issue?

Just an FYI, iTunes does not have any input on specific song/album versions that are released. All music for sale has to be uploaded directly by the company that owns or controls the recording. |

From looking at Discogs, it appears iTunes has the 2002
import version, which apparently substitutes the U.S. 45 version for the U.S. LP version as Track 1. The "Midnight Mix" apparently is not the U.S. LP version, even though both run (4:47). |

iTunes has a collection from Icehouse called "White Heat
- 30 Hits" which is not listed in the database. "Crazy" is listed as being 3:24 and "Electric Blue" is listed as 4:25. Does anyone know if Crazy is the 45 version and Electric Blue is the 45 mix on this collection? |

Bought the 2 songs and they match what Ron said about
Electric Blue to determine the difference between the 45 mix and LP version. Crazy runs 3:22, which obviously would be the 45 version. |

I'm pretty sure the 45 version is just an edit of the LP version, but I haven't checked.
The 45 version of "Crazy" turns up on the Chrysalis sampler Audio Buffet 2 (1987), and on a very obscure Canadian compilation from Quality Records called This Is Music 4 (1988). My '80s-era pressing of Man Of Colours (1987) has the 4:49 LP version, the 7:21 12 Inch Mix, and the 4:49 Midnight Mix. |

There's a lot of crap on the radio, but there's only one Crap From The Past.

Yes, the LP version can be edited down to create the 45 version. It's just one easy edit: remove the section starting at 2:08.7 and ending at 3:33.8 (right at the beginning of a sustained "craaaaaaazyyyy" belted out by Iva Davies).

I don't believe the 45 version can be recreated editing the
LP version. As far as I can tell, the single version is slightly remixed, e.g. the electric guitar is pushed forward in the 45 version. |
