Thought we should document the subtle differences between the LP, 45, and available CD versions.
The true 45 runs 5:27, not 5:10 as printed on the label, and runs at 115.5 BPM throughout. It's also listed as a "remix" on the label and picture sleeve. Unlike radical "remixes" (like "She Bop", for instance), the difference between the 45 and LP is fairly slight. It's easiest to tell by the presence of handclaps at 0:24 at the end of the intro, which are present on the 45 mix but not on the LP mix. Most of the versions on CD are the LP mix, including Make It Big, Priority's The 80's Greatest Rock Hits Vol. 1 Passion & Power and Virgin/EMI UK's Now 1985. The true 45 appears on the radio-only collection The "A" List (1994, Swaitek a/v productions/Ghostwriters). Not sure if it's on a TM Century disc or not. The 45 can be recreated from The Final (Epic [Austria] CDEPC 88681, 1986), removing the material between 0:21 and 0:37, between 4:02 and 4:11 and between 4:43 and 5:17 in the whole 6:29 track. This leaves edit points at 0:21, 3:46 and 4:18 in the homemade 5:31 track. The version on The Final is a bit slower than the 45, running at 115.0 BPM throughout, and should be sped up by about 0.4% to match the 45. The LP versions are all 115.1 BPM throughout. while maybe remix isn't the right word for the hit version, it is radically
different than the original LP version in terms of that HUGE vocal bridge with all new lyrics that is not contained on the LP version. Not sure if the "hit version" and the 45 version are the same (the long hit version on 12" ran I think 6 and a half minutes), but the version I speak of, which was used for the video, is the version that got all the airplay in New York. |

I was disappointed with the version of "Everything She Wants" contained on the "Make it Big" album. It wasn't the version I heard most often on the radio. I later bought the vinyl 45 and eventually the 12-inch single, and can tell you the 45 and 12-inch are the same mix, but the 45 is edited shorter. The 12-inch has a printed running time of 6:34. |

the 12" version is also on the new George Michael 25 Years compilation,
which I think is the first time it has ever appeared on a domestic George Michael CD. |

I've also heard a live almost "candlelight"-type mix on the radio, apparantly recorded within the past six years. It includes the extra lyrics. I haven't seen the CD yet, just out of curiousity, is that on this compilation too? |

The true 45 version is available on the UK import CD single of "Last Christmas." But beware, the newer ones contain only "Last Christmas" single mix and pudding mix. The original, which is still fairly widely available, had those tracks, plus the 45 version of "Everything She Wants" as a third track.

I edited the 12-inch mix from the import "12-Inch Singles" CD to match my white-label promo 45. I never A-B'ed the two, so the edit was largely based on a few rough notes, but I seem to remember at least one imprecise edit, coming out of the bridge. Can anyone confirm this? |

I thought it was. CD Universe and Target list it only as an import. WalMart and Half.com list it as a domestic release, but not out yet. I'm not sure what's going on. |

I bought the 3 disc limited edition import a couple months back, but the 2 disc version listed on amazon now seems like a domestic.
