anyone know if the bee gees song "jive talkin'" is available in its 45 version on cd.........the 45 has the first vocals at the 0:13 mark while the cd version from the box set has the first vocals at the 0:22 mark.......the only diference is that the intro loop is edited on the 45........

To my knowledge, Ed, this has never been issued on CD, and neither has the single edit of "Love You Inside Out."

My stereo promo 45 runs 3:33 and the first vocals hit at 0:15, not 0:13.

Upon further investigation, I've withdrawn my question about speed differences between the 45 and LP versions, as there doesn't appear to be any.

The 45 can easily be recreated from the album version with
one edit on the intro. |

To 'The Hits Man':
I *hear* two edits in the intro of the actual 45 version. Anybody else concur? Andy |

Yes. I made two edits when I recreated the 45 version from the LP version. |

Sorry guys. I meant two. The opening scratching is left intact. Two bars with the bass and kick drum, and two bars rhythm guitar including a triplet on the snare before letter A. Nevertheless, it's two easy edits. |

For the LP version, I really like Polydor's 4-CD Tales From The Brothers Gibb (1990), although I didn't encounter any CD versions of the song that really sound bad.
The 45 edit shortens the intro with two edits. Here are editing instructions, with timings from Tales. Segment 1 16 beats long (includes all the strumming and the first eight bass drum beats) Ends on what would be the 9th bass drum beat Extends from 0:00.0 to 0:09.3 of the LP version and the 45 edit Remove the 12 beats from 0:09.3 to 0:16.1 of the LP version Segment 2 4 beats long Starts on the 21st bass drum hit of the LP version Ends on what would be the 25th bass drum hit of the LP version Extends from 0:09.3 to 0:11.6 of the 45 edit Extends from 0:16.1 to 0:18.3 of the LP version Remove the 4 beats from 0:18.3 to 0:20.6 of the LP version Segment 3 Starts on the 29th bass drum hit of the LP version Extends from 0:11.6 to 3:34.1 (end) of the 45 edit Extends from 0:20.6 to 3:43.2 (end) of the LP version Your mixdown will run 3:32 (3:34.1 with outro silence), with edits at 0:09.3 and 0:11.6. |

There's a lot of crap on the radio, but there's only one Crap From The Past.
