I noticed that some versions of the song have seven guitar strums before the second guitar part comes in, while others have six guitar strums. The six-strum version is missing the first strum, which can really throw you off if you're looking for the downbeat.

Not sure which versions are on the actual 45 or the "Cargo" LP.

Seven strums:

Rhino's Just Can't Get Enough Vol. 15, 1995
Time-Life's Modern Rock - Lost Hits of the Mid '80s (R828-15), 2001 [digitally exactly 1 dB quieter than JCGE V. 15]

Six strums:

Time-Life's Sounds Of The Eighties - The Early '80s Take Two (R988-18), 1996
Priority's Rock Of The 80's Vol. 13, 1994

I guess it's technically at 0:00. It's lopped off the intro to the song - the rest of the song appears to be the same.

Truncated would probably not be the right word to use, since it's not a fade in on the intro. Edited would be a better word, which would make these versions "neither" in the database.

This is a really good catch. My dj 45 and LP "Cargo" both have 7 strums but you are right there ar only 6 strums on several cd's. See the database for a complete listing.
