My commercial 45 has both a listed and actual time of (3:38). All 3 of the CDs in the database are either (4:12) or (4:13), likely requiring that either an "LP version" or "LP length" designation to be added to these in the database.

I do not have the vinyl 45 of "Sunny Days" so if anyone else has this 45 and can inform us as to whether the appearances on cd are 45 length or 45 version that would be appreciatred.

Yes there is one edit on the 45 to get it to 3:38. I have the promo and the stock. Same on both. The K-Tel is a remix of the LP version. The other two listed probably are too. Same as that Canandian Denon CD that spawned the bad remix of One Fine Morning. What makes it sound like a remix: There's more room ambiance on the lead singer's mike. Almost as if you can hear room echo which you don't hear as much on the original.

Bill:

So you're saying then that the (LP version) notation in the database for the Believe in Magic CD on K-Tel 3623 is incorrect, and should instead contain the comment: (remix) or (remixed LP version)? If so, that's a bummer for me because I bought that disc especially for "Sunny Days". I wonder if the other two CD entries in the database really have the LP version, or are they remixed as well?

Yes the K-Tel is a remix, not the original album mix. The One Way CD is also this remix. I assume the Nick at Nite CD is this version too, someone will have to check. It's different enough to deserve a notation as "Lp version, remixed". Basically, when Denon in Canada issed their Best Of Lighthouse CD they remixed all of the Evolution/Stereo Dimension material. Whomever mixed Sunny Days did not use reverb in the same way as in the orginal mix. On the original, the lead singer's vocals were completely dry. Reverb on the original only came in for group accents and choruses. The K-Tel and One Way issues are the same thing as the Denon Canandian remix CD, which kept reverb on for the entire recording, giving the lead vocal a different feel. This remix is also a little heavier on the reverb on the piano open.

The only original Evolution mix I've ever heard on CD is the stereo DJ version of "One Fine Morning" found on the Dick Bartley CD.

I have the CD The Best Of Lighthouse - Sunny Days Again (1998,
True North TNMD 0173), and the lead vocal sounds dry to me. The
problem is, I have no other reference with which to compare. The vocal
sounds different than the sample on All Music Guide, but it could be the
phasing of the sample. The CD is a Canadian release.
