Ed mentions in this thread the 45 runs 3:45. In another
thread, abagon mentioned the 45 runs 3:47.

Are there speed differences between the two 45
pressings, or does Ed's 45 fade out earlier?

Also isn't there a spoken female part over the intro of the LP version (something to the effect of "somethings stay forever ...etc")? That's removed for the radio version I think.
Cheers,

Is the spoken female on the intro of your 45, Ed?

the first vocals are at 0:30 of the song and sounds like a
guy not a girl....he sing 'love comes down upon us flow
like water....is that what you are referring to?......there
is no spoken words before the music starts...

The vocal I hear, that Jody references above, happens
from :13-:22. "Some things stay forever...etc."

Could this be a 45 v LP version difference if Ed doesn't
hear this on his 45?

Is there a digital version that doesn't have the above
vocal?

Until I saw this thread and checked out the video on YouTube, I'd never heard the female vocal on the intro. I've never heard that version of the song, in the 32 years since the song came out.

I'll check tonight, but I'm 99.9% sure that these CDs don't have the female vocal on the intro:
  • Priority's Rock Of The 80's Vol. 7
  • EMI's Living In Oblivion Vol. 5
  • Rhino's Just Can't Get Enough Vol. 13

There's a lot of crap on the radio, but there's only one Crap From The Past.

Thanks for the early detective work. I'll be eager to
see how Pat classifies this in the database.

The mix with the female spoken part was also one of the mixes on the 12" single. I only heard it there in the 80s.
Right now, the online digital version of of the 12" "Dance Vault Mixes" lists this mix as the single version, but we know it was not. It may have been in the UK. I do know that these descriptions in the majors' digital databases are a mess.
