My commercial 45 has a listed time of (3:56), but an actual time of (3:59). My promo 45 has these exact same timings on one side of it, while specifying it as "Short Version." The other side of my promo 45, which states "Long Version", has both a listed and actual time of (5:06).

Interesting find, Jim...

The Afternoon Delights did release a self-titled LP in 1981, which contained "General Hospi-Tale". Can anyone verify if the longer 5:06 version on the promo 45 appears on the group's parent LP?

Todd, I just located my still-sealed copy of the LP you refer to above. On the back cover, Side One, Track One, it states "General Hospi-tale" (5:06), plain as day. I WAS prepared to break it open for you otherwise, sir. But since I'm clearly the only huckleberry on earth who still owns this "valuable collector's item" (%@&$#), I'd rather not crack it open - maybe an old cast member will offer me a fortune for it!   :)

I have the LP, and General Hospi-tale indeed times out to just a bit over 5:06. The 45 is an edit of the LP version.

Thanks a bunch, Roscoe! You also save Jim from having to break the seal on his very rare collector's item... Not that I would ever ask or expect him to do it on my account anyway! ;-)

Bit of trivia on this...it was co-written by Lisa Tedesco, better known as "Lisa Lips", morning show sidekick on Kiss 108 in Boston.

I was working at a radio station when this was popular. We were serviced with a 12" single. MCA-13955 (MCA 2281). Actual time is 5:06. Flip side is the Instrumental. This was the commercial 12" with a Promo label on the cardboard cover, not a white label promo.
