When trying to make my own 45 edit of "When A Man Loves A Woman" by Bette Midler, I noticed that Experience The Divine chops off part of the intro. I'm guessing that this would account for the :06 difference between this CD and the OST to The Rose. It should probably labeled in the database as "neither the 45 nor LP version."

OK, I'll bring this thread up again, because when I compared the 45 to the version on Experience The Divine, the only difference I noticed was the chopped off intro on the CD.

Pat, what is the difference between the LP version and the 45 version? The copy I am listening to runs 4:56, which is pretty close to the soundtrack run time of 4:59.

My original LP version comment was in error as I based that on the 45 that I had which is a dj 45 that is truly an edit of the LP version. The commercial 45 is not an edit of the LP version.

Pat, my only promo 45 for this song mimics the commercial 45. Could you provide additional details on your DJ 45, that is truly an edit of the LP version? Given the song's length, it does make sense that a second, shorter DJ promo 45 would have been issued for it.

My copy is Atlantic 3643 and clearly states "edited version" on both the mono and stereo side. Stated and actual time is (3:45) and the matrix number is A37885-2 on the mono side and -4 on the stereo side. I have an extra copy if you wish to trade for a copy.

My stock commercial 45's running time and listed time are "4:55" (ATLANTIC 3643)
The vocal lyric word "When" of the first "When A Man Loves A Woman"starts at "0:19"

Does anyone have the 1980 parent soundtrack LP The Rose on Atlantic who can report the vinyl LP run time of "When a Man Loves a Woman"?

I have the soundtrack vinyl LP "The Rose" made in U.S.A.
The listed time of this song is "4:42" on the record label (A side-4). The part of this music performance is surely (4:42). But this 45 is added the first 3 seconds and the last 10 seconds of the cheers and applause. Because this song continues the next song and also the previous song. Although I don't have this album CD, I think that it's possible to make the 45 from it too.

So if I'm understanding correctly, it sounds like the record label may have based the 4:42 LP time of "When a Man Loves a Woman" strictly on the music portion, while the 45 time included :13 of cheers and applause as part of its 4:55 length.

I should clarify that the first :03 of the 45 contains a countoff, while the last :10 contain the extra cheers and applause, like abagon pointed out.
