Pat, I notice that you currently have notated in the database, "the actual 45 running time is (4:16) the 'Summer Of '89 Radio Mix'". But my commercial 45 has both a listed and actual time of (3:46), with no version notation at all on the label, and deadwax info of "A&M-VV-01433-A-SP".

I also own a promo CD single for this song (CD 17833), and it has the following:

1-Summer Of '89 Radio Mix (listed & actual 4:16)
2-Soft Sell Radio Mix (listed & actual 3:58)

Before posting this, I browsed the more broad, earlier Seduction "4 Top 40 Hits" post, didn't see any information for this promo CD single, so I thought I would add them here, in a more specific thread.

jim...this looks like another example of the commercial cassingle and the commercial 45, issued under the same label & catalog number, containing two different versions of the song....thanks for unearthing it...

Ed, I do happen to own their "Nothing Matters Without Love" LP, and after a quick listen to the first part of it, they DO appear to be the same version. There is still the issue of that :04 second time difference (3:46 45v vs. 3:50 LPv), and I will also get to the bottom of that as well, sir, in the very near future.

I have uncovered the reason for the :04 difference between the stock 45 and CD versions. The 45 is pitched up by 1.35% compared with the CD version, making it run :04 shorter. Other than that, they are exactly the same.

Jim:

Did your radio station play the "Summer of '89 Radio Mix" and is it a significantly different mix than the LP version? I was living in Germany back when the song came out and heard it on Armed Forces Radio and on American Top 40.

Yes, Todd, we did play the "Summer Of '89 Radio Mix" on-air. But rather than give you my subjective opinion on these two versions' differences, I have just sent you an mp3 of the "Summer..." version, for your own evaluation.

As promised, Jim sent me the "Summer of '89 Radio Mix" of "(You're My One and Only) True Love" on mp3 a while back, but I'm only now getting back with an update. The "Summer of '89 Radio Mix" is a signficantly different mix than the LP version and the one I remember hearing on Armed Forces Radio and on American Top 40. I think the "Summer of '89 Radio Mix" is a far superior version.

my commercial 45 issued as vendetta 1433 states the run
time as 3:46 and does run that length and contains the same
run out groove info as jim's 'A&M - VV - 01433 - A - SP'
