With all of the discussion lately surrounding the "Essential Michael Jackson" cd, there has not been any mention of the song "Enjoy Yourself". Unfortunately and surprisingly to me I do not have the 45 of this song so I wish to ask for help in distinguishing two different versions that have shown up on cd. Version 1 appears on the cd titled the "Jacksons" where there are no vocals from 2:48 to 2:49. Version 2 appears on numerous cd's including "Essential Michael Jackson" where there are vocals from 2:48-2:49. Is this a 45 vs LP version distinction or is version 2 a 12" single version?

I listened to the Jacksons' "Enjoy Yourself" 45 version on mp3, courtesy of Ed, and there are no vocals from 2:48 to 2:49 on his commercial copy.

Interesting. Both UK and Australian versions of Sony's 2-disc "Very Best of The Jacksons" have vocals from 2:48 to 2:49.

Now that I have obtained the 45 of Enjoy Yourself courtesy of Todd, I can tell everyone that the version of this song on the Essential Michael Jackson cd is a remixed version with some additional vocals and it runs :15 longer than the 45 or LP. This remixed version also appears on the "Essential Jacksons" and "Michael Jackson - The Ultimate Collection" box set.

It does specify "Extended Version" on "Essential Jacksons," so that's probably what this is.

Wait a minute... it runs 3:21 on my "Essential Michael Jackson," which is actually a hair SHORTER than the LP version at 3:24, but it does have the vocal at 2:48-49.

Are you sure about that running time, Pat?

yes, that bizarrely was a 45 length "edit" of the alternate version that first appeared on the Essential Jacksons titled 'extended version'.. something else they butchered with on that Essential MJ compilation. couldn't they find the 45 master ??
