Tried to replicate the edit from the album version - bottom line is that it doesn't work.
I have the album version on:
I have the edit on:
Keep the first 32 beats from 0:00.0-0:18.4. Edit on true downbeat. Remove the 24 beats from 0:18.4-0:32.1. Keep 0:32.1-2:47.5. Edit on snare. Remove the 16 beats from 2:47.5-2:56.6. Keep 2:56.6-3:56.1. Here's where it breaks down - there's an 8-beat instrumental passage in the edit from 3:33-3:37; the corresponding passage is 24 beats long in the LP version, from 3:56 to 4:09, but it has vocals over it. I don't see how to edit it to use the right instrumental portion. Keep 4:09-4:50 of LP version, with a 32-beat fade from 4:32-4:50. Your mixdown would run 4:18, with edits at 0:18.5, 2:33.9, 3:33.4 and 3:37.6, with a 32-beat fade from 4:01 to 4:18. Close, but not quite. |

In case this info could help anyone in obtaining the desired version(s), here is my CD single information. We initially received into the station the commercial CD single for this song, which did happen from time to time during these years. Shortly after, we received in a "Fresh Mixes" promo CD single for it as well. Here are the particulars:

The remix that radio played was by David Morales, but not sure if it's one of the mixes on the above mentioned CD singles. Does anyone remember?

Are you referring to the Dance Mix in the promo listed above? |

Favorite two expressions to live by on this board: "You can't download vinyl" and "Not everything is available on CD."

On the Discogs page for the commercial US CD Maxi-Single, Track 4 (Dance Mix) has a notation of "Remix, Co-Producer, Percussion - David Morales".

I don't recall any stations in my area playing the nearly
6-minute dance mix. It was either the English edit or the Radio Edit. |

Yes! The remix sounded like the backing beat to Madonna's "Erotica". Not sure if was the full Dance Mix or an edit. |

Just in case you were wondering....My 'Commercial' 45 RPM vinyl single, released as, "EMI Records Group, SBK Records S7-57881, CEMA Special Markets" has a listed time of 5:25 and runs 5:24.5. In the run-out wax it states 'Mastered by Capitol'. It also states on the label, FOR JUKEBOXES ONLY!, which was common in the early 90's. It was released on 8/25/1992. Just Another Day was in it's 19th week on the Billboard Hot 100! It was still floundering in the Top 10 when the vinyl was released. -Bill.

Can anyone shed some light on the "easy mix" on another
version of the promo CD? https://www.discogs.com/release/16073445-Jon-Secada-Just- Another-Day?ev= |

I just received the promo CD with the Easy Mix, so I can officially report the contents:
DPRO-05452 1. Easy Mix (listed 4:15; actual 4:14) 2. Original Radio Version (listed 4:15; actual 4:18) The Easy Mix is essentially the hit version with the drum machine removed from the mix. The hi-hats and other percussion is still there, just the drums are gone. I can't imagine many stations preferring to play this version, but I understand they were maybe going for an "AC" type mix. The best way I can describe it is that it sounds like a mixing mistake--like the engineer forgot to unmute the drum track--even though I know it's intended. |
