I do not own this 45, but Robert has reported to me that his 45 has an actual run time of (3:20). The only CD currently in the database for this song has a run time of (3:29). Anyone else who is able to provide us with any listed/actual 45 time confirmations, or other additional details for this song would be very much appreciated.

You're right, Hykker. My error on this. I just checked my 45 and found that it is the same as the LP. I created a version without the 7-second "Hail Mary" intro and I mistakenly entered it in my own DB as the 45 version, and that's what I erroneously reported to jimCT. Sorry to both of you. I'll send myself to bed without milk & cookies if it'll help.

We'll let you get away with it this time, just don't let it happen again. :-/

This brings up an interesting question though. What was Billboard's chart methodology in the late 60s in which a song like this would have made it to #33? Wide as Top 40 radio was in 1968, I just can't hear this next to "Who's Makin' Love" or "Magic Carpet Ride", so I'm guessing that any airplay would have been pretty much limited to MOR stations, and Andy wasn't really that big of a "singles" artist so I'm not sure its chart position was mostly from sales of 45s. Judging by the amount of cue burn on the copy I have, clearly the station it came from played it quite a bit, but it's nothing I ever recall hearing on any of the big MOR/AC stations in the area.

It may have gotten its popularity from the fact that it was recorded at Robert
F. Kennedy's eulogy, and therefore a sort of a keepsake for many in the
record-buying public.
