I saw there was a little discussion in the "Incorrect Run Times" thread about Ambrosia's "Holdin' On To Yesterday." At some point, the designation for this song in the database for any (3:21) entries was "45 version," but after further review that the 45 actually runs (3:27), the designation had changed to "edit of the LP version in an unsuccessful attempt to recreate the 45." Aside from the fade being six seconds too early, what was wrong with the edit that was made? I'm trying to compare it to a 45 dub that John G. provided me, and I'm having trouble figuring it out; which means it must be something obvious.

Thanks!
Doug

I'd also like to know where the "incorrect" edit went wrong
(or is the mistake in just fading too early).

On the 3 cd's in the database that run (3:22) or so, the instrumental bridge is much longer than what is found on the 45.

Thank you very much Ed for sending me that file. The 45
version Ed sent me matches the Time Life Sounds Of The
Seventies version for the first two minutes. Then, As Pat
mentioned above, the instrumental bridge is much longer.
Too bad these folks couldn't get their edit(s) correct.
There are a hand full of tracks on that Time Life series
were the edits are close but incorrect (ELO's "Evil Woman"
and Thin Lizzy's "Boys Are Back In Town" are two more I
recall off the top of my head).

This song!

I seem to remember hearing this song on the radio as a teenager and didn't think too much of it until I started seeing it pop up in several "Various Artists" type compilations.
None of which I can recant off the top of my head, but betting it probably was Time-Life.

The instrumental bridge is exactly what started bugging me so much. I thought I was having seizures during this bridge. At several points it sounds like someone got a little wild
with the razor and tape and was just slamming pieces together. I am not at all a musician, but the abruptness of the sections almost fried my noggin'.

I searched a bit on this board, but didn't find much about it. I see after lurking a few weeks, that most folks here are highly gifted in the technical sense of relating to songs
in the posts. My apologies for being a bit coarse in my description on this one. I think I'm going to go pull it up and get some time details and the source for a more accurate
description of what bugs me about this song.

I just had to comment though. It's been one of those on the back burner of a brain fold for years now.
