my commercial cassingle of the song "get ready for this" by 2 unlimited issued as radikal/critique 15535 states the version as the "radio mix" with a listed run time of 3:42 but after comparing it to the full length cd/lp version listed below
(S) (3:42) Critique 15407 Get Ready they are actually identical.....unless someone can identify what the differences are, i can't tell.... |

There was a (mostly) instrumental version of this on one of the Jock Jams CDs, but the one on their GH CD has rapping in it. What was the "single" version of this?

Hykker, the album had two versions of the song. The first track was called the "Orchestral Mix" and it had a build up on the intro before the synth riff started. This version has no vocals at all. Jock Jams used an edit of this version, I believe, and they put the "let's get ready to rumble" and crowd effects over the build-up intro.
The second version on the album, which I think was just called "vocal version" or something like that, has the rapped verses and sung chorus. The promo CD also contained a "no rap mix" that cut out the rapped verses, shortening the song by about a minute. |

Bringing this back to ask if anyone remembers hearing a
version without rap but with the female vocals? I'm pretty sure I heard this on CHR radio when it was a current. Just wondering if it might have been an in- house edit at KRBE. |

Yes, I remember hearing it here in
Philadelphia. I thought that's what was on the single before I bought it, and I was taken aback by the rap verses on it, as I had never heard it on the radio. |

The "No Rap Mix" is the only mix we played at my former top 40 station. It's cut 2 on the promo CD single. This version does contain the female vocals.

That's a good question. I have copies of the promo filed in both 1992 and 1995, and the ones I have filed are as follows:
CRDJ15490-2 1. Radio Edit (listed 3:42) 2. No Rap Mix (listed 2:51)* 3. Extended Mix (listed 5:26) 4. Orchestral Mix (listed 5:54) 5. Get Ready For The Twilight Zone (listed 3:55) *This is the version we played on the air. I can provide actual times if needed. I also have filed with my 1995 CDs a stock CD maxi single: 01624 15535-2 (copyright 1994) 1. Radio Mix (listed 3:42) 2. No Rap Mix (listed 2:51) 3. Rap Mix (listed 5:26) 4. Orchestral Mix (listed 5:54) 5. The East Orange Boot Mix (listed 5:33) My old top 40 station didn't spin this until around '95 when it started to gain popularity from Jock Jams and sporting events. The initial 1992 released stalled out at #76 on the Hot 100, but I do believe it was serviced to radio in 1992 based on the catalog number. Their previous single, "Twilight Zone," has catalog number CRDJ 15489-2, while their follow up singles "The Magic Friend" and "No Limit" have promo CD catalog numbers CRDJ 15493-2 and CRDJ 15498-2, respectively. This leads me to believe that the discs were all issued around the same time period of 1992 & 1993. |

Oh, and to clarify, Radikal Records did send out copies of that exact same 1992 promo CD in 1994/95. That's when we received our copy and spun it directly from that disc.
