My commercial 45, confirmed as Mala 580, has a listed time of (2:59) and an actual time of (2:58). I have both a vinyl and a styrene 45 copy (both have deadwax of "8323"). I only post this info because Pat currently has a "45 version" notation next to all 3 of its mono CD appearances. But two of them are :05 shorter, at (2:53). FYI, the Sundazed "The Letter/Neon Rainbow" two-fer, however, has a much closer timing to my 45, at (2:56).

I thought I'd bump up this thread since Jim's 45 run time info for the Box Tops' "Neon Rainbow" was never incorporated into the database.

Interesting! I don't think I've ever come across a vinyl Bell single. |

Todd as you know, timing differences less than :03 are not mentioned in the database. Only you would lose sleep over a :01 timing difference.

Pat:
This has nothing to do with a :01 timing difference. As Jim said, there's only one database CD appearance of the "Neon Rainbow" 45 version that comes within :03 of the correct 45 length and therefore mentioning the 45 timing info in the database might be helpful for subscribers looking for the CD that's closest to the correct length. And I can sleep just fine regardless of what information you decide to include or exclude in your database, Pat. In fact, I managed to get nine hours of quality sleep last night after making my previous post and woke up to my stunningly beautiful wife as I do every morning, so I can't say my careful attention to detail is hurting me any! |

Between 1966 and late 1971, the Amy-Mala-Bell-New Voice-dynoVoice 45s in upper midwest stores were usually vinyl pressings from ARP, hissfests though they were. I'd often wait for the titles to show up in the cutout bins to snag quieter styrene pressings from the east coast. How sad was that?! :) I did find a cutout vinyl pressing of Mitch Ryder's "Devil With A Blue Dress" from Plastic Products. Although less hissy than ARP's output, it did come with the usual PP quality issues baggage. Edited by Yah Shure |

They do seem rare. I have "Neon Rainbow" on a styrene promo 45 and vinyl store bought 45. My Crazy Elephant "Gimme Gimme Good Lovin" is vinyl as is Gary Glitter's "I Didn't Know I Loved You." Must be few and far between.

I forgot to add a big thumbs up on the hissfest comment! Those Bell, New Voice, Amy singles were hissy on vinyl. Forgot to add "Too Many Fish" by Mitch Ryder as a vinyl single too..and yes hissy.

Seconded about that hissy issue. The styrenes were quiet when you could get a Near Mint copy. I have the Stereo LP with this track on it. Mine is quiet.
