Noticed a problem with this entry, and I'll need some help diagnosing it from someone who actually owns the 45.

The versions on Time-Life CDs - Sounds Of The Seventies - 1977 Take Two (1991), Body Talk - Just The Two Of Us (1997; digitally exactly 2 dB louder than Sounds), and Solid Gold Soul - 1977 (1997; differently EQ'd digital clone of Sounds) - all run 3:33. The Sounds disc is labeled as "45 version" in my 1996 copy of Pat's book. All three of these have 48 beats before the vocals start.

The version on the Mercury All-Time Greatest Hits CD runs 3:25, and is also labeled as "45 version". Problem is that it lops off the first 8 beats of the song, and only has 40 beats before the vocals start. The fade point is close to the Time-Life discs, plus or minus a second or two.

So one of these is incorrect, but I don't know which one.

Any 45 owners care to weigh in?

(After-the-fact correction: The two versions in question are different edits, and aren't just off by the first 8 beats of the song. They diverge after 2:22 on the Mercury CD and 2:27 on the Time-Life CDs.)

The vocals come in at 0:23 on the Mercury All-Time Greatest Hits CD, and at 0:28 on the Time-Life CDs.

Thinking that the Mercury disc is the true 45, and the Time-Life CDs are an early fade of the album version, but I don't have this song on vinyl to compare...
