Album Version Edit - 4:47

I found this on a previous post. Is this just an edit at the beginning, and a fade at the end, with the sax solo halved? I remember the radio version sounding "hotter", but I could be wrong.

What are the edit points exactly for the "LP Edit"?

Cheers,

Jody, I don't own the LP version, so I can't answer your question, but we did get in to the station three separate promo CD singles for this song back in 1991. The first two include the same 4 tracks, but simply in a different running order. For the third, I guess someone in radio asked Capitol if they could provide a shorter version of the (6:45+) "3rd World Mix", so they did:

-Richard Marx--"Keep Coming Back" (DPRO-79945)
1-Album Version-Edit (L 4:49; A 4:48)
2-12" Edit (L & A 4:33)
3-3rd World Mix (L 6:48; A 6:46)
4-Quiet Storm Mix (L 6:04; A 6:03)

-Richard Marx--"Keep Coming Back" (DPRO-79957)
1-12" Edit (L & A 4:33)
2-3rd World Mix (L 6:48; A 6:46)
3-Quiet Storm Mix (L 6:04; A 6:03)
4-Album Version-Edit (L 4:49; A 4:48)

-Richard Marx--"Keep Coming Back" (DPRO-79102)
1-3rd World Edit (L 4:30; A 4:35)

Would someone be kind enough to confirm (or disprove) my assumption that:

The commercial 45 (labeled "Edit" and listed 4:49) contains the "Album Version-Edit" noted above, and

The cassette single contains the full album version (with the fade-in and running ~6:49).

You are correct, sir!

Almost 15 years later (!) and I also have the same question
- does anyone know the edit points for the LP version?

Thanks much, Paul. Appreciated.

Scanner, for some reason I failed to buy the 45 back in 1991 (or the cassingle)
so I had to rely on Paul's massive and generous brain. So I ordered one of the
promo CDs and will try to re-create the edits, if possible. Unfortunately, my CD
must have been routed through the Klingon Empire because I'm still waiting for it
in the mail, alas...

Scanner, you can't edit the LP
version to get the "Edit"
because the "Edit" has a cold
hi-hat intro while the LP
version fades in.

Thanks Andrew; indeed no, you can't create the edit from the album version. I finally got my CD promo in the mail, with postmarks from Svalbard and the South Sandwich Islands stamped on the package.

Thanks, Andrew. I knew the beginning would be impossible
with the bleed of the album version into the cold open.
But, can the rest of the song be edited? I recall the
bridge is shorter and there is an early fade on the single
version.

FYI, the database currently shows the following comment regarding promo CD single information for Richard Marx's "Keep Coming Back":

(promo CD singles contain the "Album Version-Edit" (4:48) as well as remixes running (4:33), (4:35), (6:03) and (6:46)

This data was entered back in the old days when merely providing run times only for DJ edits was considered sufficient information. However, I think it would be helpful to update this database comment to provide greater detail regarding the specific remixes appearing on the promo CD singles. So, I've taken the liberty of referencing the late Jim Abbott's information regarding his copies from earlier in the thread.
