The database currently furnishes promo single info for En Vogue's "Love Don't Love You". As a supplement, I thought I'd also pass along that cassette single copies have a run time of 3:53. (Thanks to Edtop40 for supplying me with this info.)

I think something needs clarification here.
I have a version running 3:56 on the jukebox CD Hot Hits Pop Vol. 20. I think this is the same version on the promo CD single, but can't confirm. This version starts with a 4-beat sample from "8th Wonder" by the Sugarhill Gang, then goes into the a cappella "love don't love you" intro. The version on the RE-1 reissue of Best Of starts directly with the a cappella intro (no Sugarhill Gang sample), runs 3:53, and is mixed differently from the Hot Hits version. For example, the hi-hat is much more pronounced here than on Hot Hits. I don't have the original pressing of Best Of (no RE-1 in the matrix number), the Funky Divas CD, or the promo CD single. I'll be happy to do comparisons if someone could send me the files. |

There's a lot of crap on the radio, but there's only one Crap From The Past.

The "8th Wonder" sample version is the original Funky Divas album mix.
Later, the version on the album was replaced with the mix that does not have this sample due to licensing issues. This second mix became the single version and was included on subsequent compilation releases. |

It should be easy to determine which mix your CD contains by the layout of the back cover.
Original pressings with the first mix should have the track listing in a bolder font that stretches across the entire back cover underneath the barcode, like so: ...while later pressings with the new mix have a thinner font condensed more towards the left half of the artwork and placed beside the barcode, like this one: Edited by Underground Dub |

The compilation "The Very Best of En Vogue"
(Electra/Rhino) contains the original version with the 8th Wonder sample. |
