this one is for paul haney.....in one of whitburns books he
lists the song "angel of the morning" as being by merrillee
rush when it's actually merrilee rush.....the vinyl 45 and
pat's db are correct, whitburn's book is wrong...

Which specific book are you referring to?

I can rule out both Top Pop Singles 1955-2002 and Top Pop Albums 1955-2001, which have the correct "Merrilee" spelling.

On a related note: I recently was looking for a copy of Mer... er, what's-her-name's 1971 non-charting cover of Carole King's "Child Of Mine," a one-off 45 for Scepter. It was one of those situations where I'd already found something else from a particular dealer and wanted to consolidate other want list items to save on postage.

The record didn't turn up in an artist search under "Merrilee Rush," so just to be sure, I did a title search, and up it popped by one "Merrillee Rush."

Maybe I'll try "Merrill E. Rush" next time. :)

Since Ed didn't say which book he was looking at, I took it upon myself to investigate this matter further. I found the mistake in the Billboard Book of Top 40 Hits. I went into our internal database and discovered that slight spelling error was only in that book, so I made the correction for any and all future editions. You gotta admit, that's not exactly the most common name in the world. :)
