There's only one version of this song.

I noticed that there are some CDs that have their left
and right channels swapped. Since I don't have the
vinyl, I can't say for sure which batch is incorrect. So
I'll guess!

I'd guess that Rhino's Radio Daze Vol. 2 (1995)
has the swapped channels, since I found one other track
that also has left and right swapped. For the three-
drumbeat intro, Radio Daze has the middle tom-tom
hit panned to the left. There are two other discs that
are differently EQ'd digital clones of Radio Daze:
  • Time-Life's 2-CD Body Talk Vol. 7 Hearts In
    Motion
    (1996)
  • Time-Life's 2-CD Body Talk
    Vol. 22 Forever Love
    (2001)
There are two
other CDs with the middle tom-tom hit panned to the
right. I think these are likely correct. Both use
different analog transfers, and both sound very nice,
with no excessive compression/limiting, nice EQ, and no
NR:
  • 20th Century Masters
  • Time-
Life's 2-CD Body And Soul Vol. 28 Wedding Songs
    (2003)
Can anyone check a 45 or an LP for me?
If the middle tom-tom pans left, then Radio Daze
is correct. If the middle tom-tom pans right, then
20th Century Masters is correct.

There's a lot of crap on the radio, but there's only one Crap From The Past.

Yup. The Radio Daze CD has the channels swapped. I just
checked my original Polydor Peaches & Herb "Twice The
Fire" vinyl LP, and a P&H CD comp, and the toms pan right.

Also, The Soul Essentials "The Best of Peaches & Herb" CD
matches the EQ of my original 1979 Polydor album.
