Listening to the Dan Hartman compilation this week, I
noticed that the Wikipedia article suggested the album had remakes of the hits rather than original recordings, and quoted at least one critic making that point. To me, "Vertigo/Relight My Fire" and "Instant Replay" sound like the originals. (I wasn't familiar with that 12" mix of "I Can Dream About You", but that was covered in another thread.) Can anyone validate my ears and confirm that those disco hits are indeed the original recordings? Thanks! Edited by eric_a |

To my ears, "We Are The Young", "Free Ride", "Vertigo/Relight My Fire", "Instant Replay", and "Countdown/This Is It" are all the original mixes, albeit with edits that might not have been released previously. "I Can Dream About You" is the awful slowed-down mix that's discussed in the other thread. "Living In America" might be Dan Hartman's original demo of the song? Not sure if it was recorded before or after James Brown's version.
Don't know about the other tracks on the disc. The mastering on this collection is unbelievably loud. I use other sources in my own library for all of Dan Hartman's charted hits. |

There's a lot of crap on the radio, but there's only one Crap From The Past.
