While not a Top 40 hit, it did reach number 47 in 1979.

Does anyone know if there are different versions on the
different pressings of the 45? While the catalog number
on all the 45's listed on Discogs is 8663, there is one
pressing that is labeled "Edit" with a listed time of
4:00 while there is another pressing with no mix
designation, that has a listed time of 3:55.

I do have a 45 dub that runs 4:00, however, I have the
songs on several CDs with runtimes between 3:55 and 4:00.
Interestingly enough, the version on "The Ultimate
Collection" is labeled as "single version" and runs 3:55
however, it is a different version than the 45 dub I have
running 4:00.

So.....I was wondering if there could possibly be two
different pressings (with different versions) of the 45
with the same catalog number.

Can anyone share any insight?

Thanks.
-Jeff

Interesting catch. I have a dub of the 45 in my archives
and, you're right, it doesn't match what I have from the
Millennium Collection CD. I'm wondering if some of the 3:55
versions are just the LP version faded to 3:55 or so.

Well,
I knew I had song on "The Island Story" (U.S. edition) so
I pulled the disc and ripped it. Listed time is (3:57) so
I thought *maybe* it's the U.S. single. Actual time is
(3:53)
BUT, To my ears, it's the LP version with a fade-in
instead of a cold start like the LP and 45 version, and
it just fades early with no edits.

The real 45 does not fade-in and has 4-5 edits of the LP
version to make it the single. It is the same mix. So I
just re-created the 45 edits and I got a perfect match.

I noticed the above described version on my "Island
Story" CD (with fade-in) has made it quite a few Youtube
videos, so I'm
thinking the real U.S. 45 edit is not on CD yet and not
on Youtube.....yet.

I have a version (the source I can't recall) that starts cold like the LP and runs
about 3:57. I just listened to it again and compared with the LP. It simply fades
early, so it's NOT the 45, since you mention it has edits. MM, would be happy
to hear your edit!

My stock copy fades in and runs 3:52.1. Run-out wax says, IS 8663-WAA-8162 V1-S-JW1, STERLING. Looks a lot like a
Capitol pressing with the serrated edge at the label. I didn't think that Island was still being manufactured by
Capitol in 1979. I also have a promo (Stereo/Mono), but I haven't put that on my hard-drive because at the time I
didn't think there was any difference. In 1985-89 we ordered copies from the U.K. (Island 216) because domestic copies
had been discontinued. -Bill.

I was curious so I checked out 45cat.com to see what is there.
Interestingly, referring back to Fetta's original post I found 2 different
variations of the U.S. single:

1) Title says "Now That We Found Love" with a listed time of (3:55)
Label Matrix # (WAA8162V1)S

2) Title says "Now That We Found Love (Edit)" with listed time (4:00)
Label Matrix # (WAA8162V1)S RE-1

The 45 dub I used for reference matches the (3:55) listed time.

So there are definitely (at least) 2 pressings for this single. With Bill's info
above, are we going for 3 U.S. pressings?
