the db may need some revisions regarding this one....some
of the entries state 'mono 45 and lp version but longer'...but there is an (S) in the left column....see below...also, my vinyl 45 issued as liberty 55865 states a run time on the label as 2:15 but only runs 2:12 1966 - SURE GONNA MISS HER (S) (2:12) &nb sp; EMI 91474 Golden Greats (stereo LP version) (S) (2:30) &nb sp; EMI 93449 Legendary Masters Series (45 and mono LP version but with a :16 longer fadeout) (S) (2:16) &nb sp; Curb 77667 Greatest Hits (stereo LP version) (S) (2:30) &nb sp; EMI-Capitol Music Special Markets 19410 10 Best Series: Best Of (45 and mono LP version but with a :16 longer fadeout) (S) (2:30) &nb sp; Collectables 9642 Best Of (45 and mono LP version but with a :16 longer fadeout) (S) (2:13) &nb sp; Collectors' Choice Music 2013 The Complete Liberty Singles (45 and mono LP version) Edited by edtop40 |

Ed, the database is correct. Keep in mind that there were two different takes of the song: the 45/mono LP version - which included drum fills - and the stereo LP version, which did not. There were also differences in the brass between the two versions. These differences were noted in Steve Kolanjian's liner notes to the 1990 EMI Legendary Masters Series CD, on which Ron Furmanek mixed the 45/mono LP version to first-time stereo from the original multitracks.) I timed the majority of my Gary Lewis & The Playboys top-40 45s for the 2009 thread we did when the Collectors Choice Music Complete Liberty Singles set was issued:
There may well be some timing variations between the different 45 pressings of many of the Gary Lewis hits, since each of Liberty's independently-contracted pressing plants often did its own mastering. Edited by Yah Shure |
