Sorry Ed, I must've missed your initial, 2006 info request of me. Here you go:
Genesis-"Jesus He Loves Me" (PRCD 4680) 1-(Single Mix) (listed 4:16; actual 4:15) |

Count me as one who does not hear any difference between the single mix and the LP version.
Anyone know what the difference is? Edited by PopArchivist |

Favorite two expressions to live by on this board: "You can't download vinyl" and "Not everything is available on CD."

I tried comparing them myself awhile ago, and I also
didn't hear anything different between the two versions. Only thing I would guess is a brighter EQ on the Single Mix, maybe? |

From Wikipedia. The single mix of "Jesus He Knows Me" has a louder chorus than the album version, making it more suitable for radio play.
I can't find any source notes for this, so I A/B'ed them. Possibly an EQ change to make the chorus sound brighter in the Single Mix, but nothing jumps out at me. |

The Single Mix has the instrumentation mixed in different channels and panning of double tracked vocals on the chorus. The hi-hat, for example, is panned slightly left on the LP version but slightly right on the Single Mix. Another example, during the first chorus, the line "'cause Jesus he knows me" is centered on the album version, including the double-tracking of Phil's vocals. On the single mix, the double-tracking is panned left and right.

I was able to verify half of the database CDs, but I don't currently have rips of the deluxe edition of We Can't Dance or the 1983-1998 box set.
