The US commercial 45 (Arista AS-2005, 1990, printed 3:59) actually runs about 4:06 and is an early fade of the LP version.

Not only did I discover that the version on TVmusic4U Presents Midnight Rock (Warner Special Products OPCD-3568, 2000) is digitally identical to Can't Fight Fate (Arista ARCD-8581, 1989), but the fade on the 45 is approximated very well by a 32-beat sinusoidal fade from 3:48.4-4:06.3 of the LP version.

Now you know.

I have this one on the promo cd single (ASCD-2006), but I prefer cut 2, Groove Mix (5:03). A 12" version of the Groove Mix exists (at least 7 minutes), but I've never seen it on anything but a cassette dub I got from Arista.

I was a club jock in the 80s.

Does her Greatest Hits CD from 1995 feature all of her proper US single versions? It does seem like they used a lot of the edits which is always a nice touch on singles compilations.

Yes, the Greatest Hits CD does contain all the U.S. single versions. And I do think it would be nice if record labels would use single versions on more Greatest Hits releases.

Regarding Taylor Dayne's "I'll Be Your Shelter", the Dance Diva Remixes & Rarities CD (Sony BMG Music Entertainment Custom Marketing Group 40750) contains the 12" single version, which is the "Extended Remix". Currently, that CD contains a generic (all selections on this cd are remixed) comment.
