According to Discogs, there was a Vinyl 7" released
for this song. Does anyone here have it and can
confirm the running time and if it's the album version
or some other mix of the song?

The commercial Cassette Single issued as 4KM-50364
states a run time of (4:01), but seems to fade out at
about (3:55) and appears to be the same mix as the
album version. I timed my copy twice.

The promo CD Single issued as DPRO #04777 contains a
"Single Remix" on Track 2 which replaces the electric
guitar solo with saxophone in the middle of the song
and on the fade out. I'm wondering if this was the
version that was meant to go on commercial copies of
the single (since it's titled, "Single Remix"). My
copy of the cassette single has the electric guitar.
I'm also curious as to if the Sax Version was used on
copies of the commercial 45.

Anyone have any information on this?

There wasn't a 45 from when the song was a hit in 1991.
Discogs does have a listing for a US 45 from 1991,
however it is wrong (they use the EU catalog #).
There was a reissue in 1995 though...

Thanks for the information. I guess it's safe to say that
the official Single Version is also the Album Version,
and not the "Single Remix" from the promo single.

TM Studios lists the single remix and also an A/C mix in
their library. Aaron may be able to shed some light on the
A/C mix.

I have the promo that I mentioned above and it also
has the AC Mix. I just compared it to the Single
Remix, and it sounds to me like the AC Mix has reverb
on Huey's vocals and the electric guitar is mixed way
down. The AC Mix also has the sax replacement on the
guitar solo and fade out like the Single Remix does.

So basically, the Single Remix is more or less the
same as the Album Version, just with the saxophone
replacements where I mentioned.

The AC Mix appears to have reverb, the sax
replacements and very little of the main guitar from
the Album Version.

I would still like to hear Aaron's analysis, though,
if he has the time for it. There very well may be
other things I missed.

The version of this song on the 2017 import release Collected is labeled Sax Single Remix. This is a three disc set from Universal Music that includes practically every track you would ever need by Huey & the News including a couple early ones from the 70s when the group was known as Clover and American Express.

Thanks for finding this, Santi! I have deleted my redundant post about it.  So based on the above, I guess the commercial US cassette single has the guitar solo at 2:30, correct?

Correct. The cassingle had the guitar. The promo CD had the sax.
