While attempting to look for entries for "The Thrill Is Gone", I ran into this:
Search Error One or more of the words used in your search criteria is below 3 characters. Then, while attempting to adjust, I got this: Search Error Your IP address has exceeded the number of allowed searches Please allow 30 seconds between searches or log into the forum Is this normal behaviour? In effect, I could not find what I was looking for using the "new and improved" search. With the old "simple" system, I would have much more easily found what I was looking for - or not, if there is nothing. |

I believe this is normal, yes, but I've only encountered it once. If you've never used the advanced search, you might want to change some of those options to help give you better results. For instance "match any word" when searching for a word like "is" (in the song title) will yield too many results. Instead, you can try "match all words" or "match phrase" and then display results as "topics" instead of "posts." That usually works a lot better.
As for the 30-second thing, I believe that's a security feature so that our site doesn't get attacked by bots and spammers. I'm not sure if I can modify that setting, as I'm looking in the control panel and don't see anything obvious. Edited by aaronk - 23 hours 11 minutes ago at 8:35am |
