Partridge Family - I Think I Love You

I just checked a bunch of CDs with this song, and I hear the "thump" at 0:14 at the end of the word "up," at 0:15 on the word "something," and at 0:17 on "brain." Those "thumps" are on all copies with one exception. On Billboard Top Rock N Roll Hits 1970, the first two "thumps" are present, but the last one on "brain" is not. It could be that the mastering engineer caught that particular "thump" (since it's the most obvious of the three) and spliced it out.

Can anyone check - was the thump on the original Partridge Family LP?

For the 3rd thump to be missing on 1 CD, I think Aaron's theory is correct and that the mastering engineer got rid of it somehow. It doesn't seem possible that 2 masters could exist, with one simply missing 1 thump. Above, I mentioned that it sounds like someone hitting a mic (or mic stand.) Anyone else who can clearly hear these thumps on headphones, any theories besides a mic bump that could have caused this in the master?

Lastly, regarding Paul's comment about a splice in "Drive" by Cars that jumps out - I never noticed this - and don't want to know where it is - because once I hear it, I'll never be able to unhear it. :) Seriously. I never noticed the bad edits in "While You See a Chance" or the 1973 45 edit of Aerosmith's "Dream On", but once I got to know the album versions years later, and then heard the single edits, they're painfully obvious (and terrible IMHO!), and I just can't un-hear them. :) Thanks to someone on this board, I recreated a very similar edit for "While You See a Chance" (about 1 second later) that doesn't sound awkward at all. I could never do the same sort of thing for "Dream On".
