All CD pressings of Whitney Houston original and later, and the deluxe edition on CD/digital have the skip at :18. I cannot speak for the original vinyl LP. The original Asylum commercial 45 and digital 45 do not. Thank you for confirming Love Language is skip-free, Gordon. |

I just checked out "Hold Me" on the "Whitney Houston" release and hear the skip or weird sound there (at 0:18). Since I used the Pendergrass CD for my source on my CDRs and in my phone, the sound you're referring to is definitely not there.

I can't figure out how to PM on this new board!
Can someone please allow me to hear the "Hold Me" from the Pendergrass CD? [etidjATverizon.net] Thanx! Andy |

If you're on a laptop, top left corner of the page, second line it says Members Control Panel then it says how many new messages you have. If you click that new messages link, it brings you to the Private Messenger page and you'll see a new message tab where you can compose a new private message. |

The skip is also on the original Whitney Houston vinyl LP. So the anomaly is on every Whitney album (vinyl/CD/digital) in existence. For archiving purposes, I will replace with the 6.02 length on Love Language. To create the commercial single length create a fade starting at 5:00 to 5:18, but the Digital 45 is readily available. |

Interesting that the skip/glitch is also on the "Whitney Houston" vinyl! Somehow, after the master was made for Elektra, the tape they gave Arista (for their master) had the anomaly. (I wonder if Sony even knows).
And until this thread, I didn't even realize that 45 version was on digital platforms. On Spotify, it doesn't even co-credit Whitney as a singer! Edited by EdisonLite - 18 June 2025 at 1:43am |

The glitch is also present on the 2024 MFSL SACD reissue of the "Whitney Houston" album.

Wow, and that was just released a year ago. And I didn't realize MFSL CDs were still being made. Can anyone here hear the difference between a Mobile Fidelity CD and a regular one - or for the modern CD era, is that more of a marketing ploy? I mean, it seems with 0's and 1's, a label could remaster a CD to sound great so I'm not sure what MFSL offers that a regular remaster doesn't (whereas for Mobile Fidelity vinyl, I get where the difference could be heard because it was supposed to be better quality vinyl.)
