Ed, I'm just curious... Since the radio and album versions have the same run time length, can you tell us what the main difference(s) is/are between the two?

Reading Todd's question: Does any forum member know the differences between the album version and the radio version?

Marcelo - I'm not sure about this one.

I assume that the version I have from Top Hits USA T0261 is the "Radio Version", and that the version from No Need To Argue is the "Album Version".

The only difference I can hear is that I think the lead vocals may be a teeny bit louder in one version compared to the other. The difference is so small that I can't tell them apart if I play one after the other.

The only way I could hear any difference is to synch up both versions in Audacity (any multi-track editor will do), swap the left/right channels of one of them, match the volume levels of the two versions (Audacity has a "loudness normalization" feature that does this easily), put one 100% in the left channel and one 100% in the right channel, and listen closely in headphones to see if anything is not dead-center in the soundstage. There are some portions of the song when I hear the lead vocals drift to one side a bit in this test, which tells me that something is different between the two mixes. It could even be an EQ difference, where the producer pulled back or boosted some of the Dolores frequencies.

Assuming that I actually compared the proper versions, this difference (if it exists at all) may be on par with Cheap Trick's "Can't Stop Falling Into Love". You certainly won't be able to hear it in a one-after-the-other comparison.

Hope this helps.
There's a lot of crap on the radio, but there's only one Crap From The Past.
