I had this song on, so I figured I'd post the promo CD info. There are 3 US promos that I'm aware of:

PRCD 5857
1. LP Version (4:04)

PRCD 5917-2 (I own this one.)
1. Album Mix (listed and actual 4:04)
2. Remix Edit (listed and actual 4:09)*
3. Lite Mix (listed and actual 4:05)
*We played this version on the air when it was a hit.

PRCD 6519
1. Remix Edit (4:09)
2. Album Version (4:04)

My commercial CD single has the "Album Mix" as the lead track, and it only contains the full 4:58 Todd Terry Club Mix as the third track. I'm not sure which tracks are on the cassette single; however, I would guess that it's the Remix Edit, since the database is calling that mix the "45 version."

As a side note, the full club mix cannot be edited to create the Remix Edit. There is unique audio on the intro.

Top 40 stations, I believe, played the 'Todd Terry' Remix, while I've heard the Album Version on Adult Contemporary stations.

my commercial cassingle issued as atlantic 87124 contains two tracks listed below

1-missing (todd terry remix edit)
2-missing (album version)

no run times are listed on either the sleeve or the cassingle's face......the track actually runs 4:09 and is identical to the version from the cd below

(S) (4:09) Atlantic 83158 The Absolute Hits (45 version; this is not the “Todd Terry Club Mix” as stated on the cd jacket)

Let's add a 4th promo to the list. I don't own it, but here are the printed details:

Atlantic PR-6675
1. Powerhouse Mix Edit (printed 3:58)
2. Todd Terry Club Mix (printed 4:56)
3. Powerhouse Mix (printed 7:00)

Tracks 1 & 3 are remixed by CL McSpadden, and track 2 is mixed by Todd Terry.

I am curious about a couple of database appearances of the Todd Terry Remix Edit (which seems to be the official "single version"). Our database states that the CD from Compass Productions called DANCE PARTY PLAYLIST contains the single version (Todd Terry Remix Edit) but it also says the CD ROLLING STONE: 90s DANCE PARTY contains a "remix but this is not the "Todd Terry" mix as stated on the cd jacket".

Both of the CDs seem to have the exact same tracklist, however, which leads me to believe they must contain the same excact version of "Missing". One of these database entries must be incorrect. I only have the Rolling Stone 90s Dance Party CD so I can't compare it to Dance Party Playlist to confirm BUT, the glass mastering info on the Dance Party Playlist Discogs page matches my Rolling Stone disc face, which would mean they were created from the SAME EXACT glass CD master.

The Rolling Stone disc certainly sounds like it, in fact, contains the Todd Terry Remix, as far as I can tell.

I don't know if I have a copy of either disc, but if someone has Dance Party Playlist and can confirm, that would be great. I notice that the database lists the run time as 4:04 on the Rolling Stone CD, while the Dance Party Playlist shows 4:09 as the run time. Given that Pat has always timed these out and not used the printed run times, it would appear that something is different between the two discs when he entered them, unless it's a typo.

I've started to clean up the database entries for this song as best as I could. A large number of these discs were labeled "remix" by Pat and are on continuous dance mix CDs where one song mixes into the next. I'm sure that nearly all of them contain a variation or edit of the Todd Terry remix, but they aren't exactly the Club Mix nor the Remix Edit.

There is also an edit I hadn't heard before on some database discs. It a short version of the Club Mix but with part of the Lite Mix edited in during the first verse. It runs 3:53 and shows up on Rhino's New Millennium Dance Party, as well as a handful of other discs, but I've never found this version on any of the CD single configurations.
