Doors 45 versions from master tape on CD!

Maybe it won't be a joke after all? I thought I read on the Hoffman forum some time ago that there was a set of Doors 45 versions in the works. I think the rumor got started on a Doors forum via some sort of semi-official post from a member of the Doors camp. It was unclear if this was going to be a CD release or vinyl.

As was posted some time ago, the mono 45 version of "Light My Fire" was released on a CD single in the UK in conjunction with the Oliver Stone movie. That CD is now very rare.

"Riders On The Storm" and "Love Me Two Times" can be edited from the LP versions to create the 45s, although "Love Me Two Times" was mono on the 45.

The "People Are Strange" 45 sounds quite different than the LP, and not just because it is mono. Some sort of odd effect was applied to Morrison's vocal on the 45.

"Touch Me" is the 45 version that I would most like to have on CD. I have done needledrops from 2 different 45s, an original and a Spun Gold reissue, but they both have some vinyl-related distortion that I was not able to clean up.

Little did I know that Touch Me actually exists on the earlier Elektra label style (i guess the 2nd style the label used, the 3rd was the one that was most common for the hit), and is a vinyl pressing too -- unfortunately my copy of that pressing is in less than stellar condition.

Its rather pathetic that the remaining members of the Doors have such a problem with alternate mixes of their hits.
Those 45's were the hits.

As bwolfe wonders, why are the remaining Doors hung up on hiding the 45's?   Those singles made them money, got them attention, helped sell the albums. They sure don't mind making money endlessly re-releasing the rest of their music in various configurations.
