Even though the song only hit #60 on the Hot 100 in 1973, does anyone have the run time of the short version of the song? I've seen a label that says 2:55.
Are commercial 45's stereo or mono, as promo 45's have the short version in mono apparently. |

John, my commercial copy, which is stereo, has a listed time of (2:56) on the label. This is the original 45 issue on Warner Brothers 7672, with the olive green label, which peaked at #80 in April, 1973.
I don't have the September '73 reissue on Warner 7737 which peaked at #60, but since that one followed "Smoke On The Water," it would have been on the "Burbank" palm tree WB label. Just gave it a listen, and although the truncated fade seemingly ends at (2:55), the song continues at a barely audible level until (2:56). Edited by Yah Shure |

And I'm pretty sure the 45 version is available on the Rock The Planet: 70s Hot Rock compilation (there may be a couple of different versions of that compilation floating around).
Unless it's an edit to try to recreate the 45. |
