   The US-only "album version" (as found on the 12" maxi single, promo CD single and on later pressings of the Girl You Know It's True album) appears to be an edit of the video mix, which is different to the single version. The video mix also appears to be the European 45 version, judging by this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwjWME0Vnds
I have no idea which version was the "hit" in 1989.

	AFAIK, the version that was on the 45 (with a 4:01 listed run time) was the "hit" version. I remember hearing this version on the radio on multiple stations and I'm pretty sure Casey Kasem played that version on AT40 as well. Originally this wasn't on the album. The version on the original pressings was a completely different sounding track running over 6 minutes. I didn't get the vinyl LP until Christmas 1989 but that was the version on the copy I've got. I had to seek out the 45 to get the hit version of the song.

	The "Single Version" was the hit in the US. (Track 1 from promo CD single Arista ASCD-9833) It runs 4:00. I'm not sure what was the hit elsewhere in the world. It's not easy to find in digital form.
	There's a lot of crap on the radio, but there's only one Crap From The Past.
