Both my commercial 45, which is mono, and the mono side of my promo 45 have a listed time of (3:30), but an actual time of (3:27). (Not surprisingly, these two sides' deadwax info is the same; "A-22876-1"). However, the stereo side of my promo 45, which also has a listed time of (3:30), has an actual time of only (3:23), with deadwax info of "ST-A-22876-1".

Can the 45 version be recreated from any of the CD versions?

Yes, I'm 99% sure I created my own custom edit of this song years ago. You know you've done WAY too many custom edits when you can't even mentally keep track of the ones you've done!

I've successfully recreated the stereo DJ edit/length from the LP version, which I assume is the same as the 45 version but :04 shorter in length.

The mono 45 - or at least the mono side of my DJ 45 - is a dedicated mono mix, and not a fold-down. Key differences:

1. The bass on the kick drum is less pronounced on the mono 45 than it is on the stereo side of the DJ 45.

2. The piano is mixed much more up-front on the mono side.

3. At the 1:58 mark, there's what sounds like "Git 'er, baby!" or something similar. While quite prominent on the stereo side of the DJ 45, these words are nearly buried on the mono side.

4. The fade starts later on the mono side, at 3:10. The stereo side fade begins at 3:04. There is a speed difference, too: the mono side runs a bit faster.

There may be some differences between DJ 45 pressings. I'm asssuming that Jim's promo 45 is a Specialty pressing. Mine is from Plastic Products and, while the printed times on both sides are also (3:30) like Jim's copy, the actual times are (3:24) stereo and (3:25) mono. Matrix numbers on my DJ 45 are ST-A-22876-2 (stereo side) and A-22876-4 (mono side.)

Both sides of this promo 45 have very abrupt, total dumps on the fade endings.
