The Now 34 disc currently says "missing the first :04" of "Nothin' On You," yet it actually runs a whole minute shorter than the LP version. I presume this is the "Radio Edit." This version was serviced to radio and runs 3:41. When compared with the LP version, the first :04 is missing. This is not just a case where the intro was cut off, though. They removed the reverb that fades in, so the "Radio Edit" just starts with Bruno Mars taking a breath before singing the first line.
Also, there is a radio version of "Airplanes," too, that removes the piano intro. The song starts cold and acapella with Hayley Williams singing the first line. This version runs 2:50. |

I have the commercial CD single for "Nothin' On You" (issued as Rebel Rock 524312). It contains a non-described version and runs (4:27). This is the album version, which includes those first 4 seconds.

TM Studios serviced the 2:50, as you call it...radio version, but they don't give it any notation.

Yeah, that's why I didn't put "Radio Version" with caps and quotes. I'm not sure what the official name of this version is.

Airplanes is listed as "Promo Only Clean Edit" and runs 2:50 on Promo Only
Mainstream Radio June 2010. I don't know if it's the same as what TM Century/the label put out, but I do know PO has done their own custom clean versions before. Bad Romance is one example. Edited by Nick2341 |

Yeah, I don't like Promo Only Clean Edits, which is one of the reasons I've started getting Prime Cuts from TM. In my opinion, Promo Only goes way overboard on cleaning up their songs. Nowadays, about half of what they service are their own custom edits. You can imagine how that might drive guys like us nuts!
There are many examples of excessive editing, but on "OMG" by Usher, for example, Promo Only has removed the words "boobies" and "whipped." They also quite frequently remove the words "damn" and "hell," which is irritating as hell...damn! |

I agree!
Edit: Just heard the editing of the word "buns" in Katy Perry's "California Gurls" and I had to laugh. They are editing buns. Buns. Edited by Nick2341 |

Picked up the "Nothin' on You" single at Hot Topic. (It seems it might be a Hot Topic exclusive.)
Spectral analysis reveals that, while the title track appears to be lossless, the second track, "Bet I," is definitely from a lossy source. This is getting ridiculous. EDIT: I take that back. After directly comparing the iTunes single and the rip of the CD single, I think the CD single may have just been taken from the iTunes file. I'm not sure, but it looks like it could have been. EDIT 2: I take that back again. More careful comparison with the iTunes file shows that "Nothin' On You" is indeed lossless, but "Bet I" appears to at least contain lossy elements. "Bet I" may be like that on the album.) Edited by Brian W. |

The full-length B.o.B. album also contains "Airplanes Pt. II," which received quite a bit of airplay in Dallas. Was this the case in all markets? Since this is really just a remix of the original, should it be included and properly noted in the database? Right now, only the original version is noted as being on Adventures....
Also, if someone has the promo CD of "Airplanes" and could detail the previously mentioned radio version, that would be great. |
