she sings the "Forget about..." line. On my CD it's at
exactly the 3:28 mark, just before the horns kick in.
The downbeat where the horns kick in would actually be an
edit point if you were trying to recreate the 45 from the
LP, but the half second just before that point has some
vocals (sounds like "Aye-ya island") that aren't on the
45.

Confusing to explain but it sounds like there's a mix
difference immediately preceding an edit point.

Maybe I have a different pressing, but my 45 has sounds
like "aye-ya, aye-ya, aye-ya, aye-ya Island" from about
3:23-3:27, then no vocals until about 3:29 where she
sings "Forget about what...". The Sound & Vision cd, has
this exact same sequence, from what I'm hearing. Maybe
this cd is different than the version that's on the "10
Best Series"?

Bingo. Your description sounds exactly like the 10 Best
Series version. The difference between that and the LP
mix is that after the "aye-ya, island" vocals that end at
3:27 she picks up again one second later with another
"aye-ya island". That latter vocal is omitted on the 45
mix. So I think it's safe to say there's a mix
difference between the LP and the 45, and that the
Platinum Collection, 10 Best Series and Sound & Vision
contain the correct 45 version.

However, at least one CD contains a failed attempt to
recreate the 45 by editing the LP version: 1993's
"Blonde and Beyond" rarities collection. The edits are
in the right places, but that CD contains the brief "aye-
ya" vocal at 3:28 that was mixed out of the 45.

Roscoe -

Great! I'm glad we could clear this version difference up. Yeah, neither my 45 nor my cd copy of "Sound & Vision" have that extra vocal at the 3:28 mark.

Any idea what cd(s) have the album version? I think this is from the album "The Hunter", so I would assume that cd (does it exist??) would have the LP version.

The LP version runs 4:39 and can be found on The Hunter
CD as well as the 2006 Greatest Hits.
