You're welcome... and I have NO explanation for why it didn't hit the pop charts. Baffling, indeed!

1986/87. The only

released as a commercial

wasn't the case.

This song seemed to have trouble finding support at
radio, but I'm not sure why. I remember seeing the video
quite often on MTV, but don't recall hearing it on my
local top 40 station at all. Like you said, it had the
advantages of the movie tie-in and good video exposure,
not to mention a brand name artist, good hooks and very
commercial production. Definitely one of the more
puzzling cases of a non-hit from the 80s.

I appreciate this thread because it explains why the
soundtrack version never sounded quite "right" to me
(i.e. the mix is different although the mastering isn't
very good on the soundtrack CD). The version on "August"
sounds the best to me.

My local CHR played it - WHMP, Northampton, MA. Don't know whether any large market CHRs played it, though. It was one of the few tunes to hit #1 AOR in Billboard and not make the hot 100 in the 80s - there were 8 - 4 had no commercial single attached.

1. Robert Plant - Other Arms   (no single)
2. Bruce Springsteen - Trapped (no single)
3. Eric Clapton - It's In The Way That You Use It
   Duck 28514
4. Pink Floyd - On The Turning Away Columbia 07660
5. Robert Plant - Heaven Knows Esparanza 99373
6. Little Feat - Hate To Lose Your Lovin' Warner
   27728
7. REM - Orange Crush (no single)
8. Stevie Ray Vaughn - Crossfire   (no single)
