On my 45 of "Make Me Belong to You" by Barbara Lewis, the first note is played by a number of different instruments, including some kind of cymbal. I do not hear this cymbal on the opening note of any stereo version of this song.

I just noticed that my 45 is a Canadian pressing (something I make a point to carefully check before I post anything, but this one slipped past me). The reason I got out my 45 again is that the database states that the U.S. 45 runs (2:27) while I timed the song at only (2:18) on the recently released Real Gone singles collection (which is not yet listed in the database). My Canadian 45, however, also runs (2:18), give or take a second. If the database info is correct, then the U.S. and Canadian 45s are not the same and my original post might not apply to the U.S. 45.
Pat, is it possible that the (2:27) run time stated in the database is actually the run time of "Make Me Your Baby"? |
