Pat, the database currently says that commercial 45s state (3:50) as the run time. My commercial 45 states a run time of (4:02). Deadwax is "PB-14035-A", with a crossed out "1", and then a "2" right next to it. FYI. both sides of my promo 45 also state run times of (4:02).

Jim, Do you have an actual run time of this song from your 45? I can't find mine. Thanks! |

Is the 7" simply an early fade, an edit, or a completely different mix?

It's an edit, as far as I can remember.

Working with most of the music video, I've come up with two edit points (one certain, the other guessed) and an early fade.
Using the track from the album Big Bam Boom (which has about a second silence on my copy; if you've trimmed yours, you'll need to adjust these times): 1) Take out 2:28 - 2:44. It sounds to be right on the downbeat, trimming the musical bridge to half its original length. I'm confident about this one; it's edited this way on the music video. 2) Take out :01 - :17. This is a guess as my copy of the video starts almost immediately into the lyrics, but I used the opening downbeat to splice into the second half of the opening bars... can anyone with the 45 confirm this edit for me? 3) Take an early fade. Because I like to fade completely out at the end of a phrase, mine actually ends up running 4:04 in length... but since it's for use on a radio station, the segue will happen MUCH earlier anyway... I can't imagine a listener being able to tell. Hope this helps somebody... and hope to get some feedback on how to trim the intro! Thanks. Edited by NightAire |

I was curious to make the 45 edit so i got a reference 45
dub, and just completed the edit. I figured i'd share the info. BTW, i used a synch-track to learn the exact edit points as that's more accurate than by ear. These times assume you'll start with LP version, and make edits starting at the intro [the later times are only accurate if you've already done the first edits]. There are 3 edits: Edit on downbeat from :04 - :21 in intro. Edit on snare from 2:10 - 2:26 Edit on snare from 3:41 - 4:06 Now in that result, (edit off remaining audio after 4:03) then fade from about 3:47 until 4:02. So if you were edit starting from the other end, the sections taken out of the full LP version are: 4:14 - 4:38 2:26 - 2:42 :04 - :21 MM Edited by MMathews |

Been meaning to ask this question for years to anyone who owns the US 12" single. Can you detect a difference between the so-called "Special New Mix" and the LP version? I can't.
