Ok, I stand corrected then... Some tracks on the GSC/Timeless series appear be dubbed from previously released CDs, while others are not.

That's a statement I can agree with -- or that some GSC/Timeless cds use the same digital master as issued on another cd and used just what was provided by the record company.

Jim, for the Lettermen set, the songs sound like 10th generation tape dubs with loads of hiss. According to Gary Pike of the Lettermen, that is just how all of their album masters at Capitol sound because they weren't well taken care of. He sent me cd's of some of their albums off of his own mint vinyl copies that sounded quite a bit better.

It would've been nice to have all of their albums reissued on cd in new stereo mixes from the session tapes (which sound better than the original album masters, and the Capitol Collector's Series cd proves that) but I'm just dreaming...
Live in stereo.

EMI-Capitol Special Markets (it also lists "GSC Music" and
www.timelessmusic.com), 3-CD set, "36 All-Time Greatest Hits", #15156.

Note that on that CD, "Right Relations" fades out a full minute earlier than on the original 45, which runs approximately 5:00. (Both the single and the CD track are mono.)

Randy, it's so great to see you here on Pat's board. Many thanks to you for all
you do for us oldies music enthusiasts, elsewhere on the 'Net!

FYI, the version of "Right Relations" on the GSC 3-CD is the DJ 45 short
version. There were two different promo 45s issued for it, back in 1968. One
has the (5:00) stock 45 length, while the other has a listed (4:05) length,
with "A Better Life" on the flip side.
