Since I'm sure it won't be too long before Gene's "80's hit magnifying
glass" happens upon the non-Top 40 hits of 1982, I present long/short
version promo 45 details for this Scorpions AOR/MTV classic. In this case,
its Hot 100 peak of #65 in 7/82 doesn't feel to me like it reflects the
song's true popularity.

The "long" side of the promo 45 exactly mimics the stock 45's details.
Both a listed and actual time of (3:55). (Deadwax: "76153-2-56588-
LONG-PRC-C-1-1    -A-"). The "short" side of the promo has a listed time
of (3:06) and an actual time of (3:07). (Deadwax: "76153-2-56588-PRC-
C-2-1-1   -A-").

There is an edit involved in the short version, as its :18 1/2 second intro
is just over half as long as the :35 second intro that appears on the long
version. I'm also just about certain I heard another edit at around (2:50),
with another verse of the chorus appearing within this version's last :20
seconds.

Again, my apologies to the editors for not being able to shoot out a short
version dub for this. Aaron will soon be receiving my promo 45, and
whenever his busy schedule permits, I'm hopeful he'll be able to provide
exact specifics for the short promo version, for anyone interested.

I'll be interested in the exact edit points for the short
version once Aaron figures them out. Thanks for the heads
up, Jim!

As was the case with a lot of rock tunes in the early
80s. After disco imploded, CHR/Top 40 radio just got
really limp for a few years, I doubt many of them played
this...it was just too guitar-heavy. AOR was king around
then, so these songs got lots of airplay, but didn't
count towards the Hot 100, I'd be willing to guess that
most of the sales were of albums, not 45s...again
limiting the song's chart potential. I'd put Loverboy's
"Working For The Weekend" and "Turn Me Loose" in the same
category.

Fortunately, over the course of the next 6-8 months CHR
came back with a vengeance!
