Noticed there was not a thread for this song. All versions in Pat's database are LP or run way longer than the 45 (18-24 seconds).
Is there a way to recreate the 45 to match the actual 3:20 running time? If its on CD somewhere domestically or internationally as the 45 version please let me know. |

There's a 4CD collection put out by Rhino, "Long Train Runnin'" Rhino Entertainment Company – R2 75876 which has a "Demo" version on the last disc.
It says 3:03 on the Discogs page for that one. I don't own the set, so I don't know if it's just an outtake or something else. The 4th disc that I'm commenting on is called "Abandoned Tracks (Demos & Roughs.) Probably not the 3:20 45 version, but may have insight where edits can be made. |

<Dave> Someone please tell I-Heart Radio that St. Louis is not known as The Loo!

I have a version with a duration of 3:20, with a lower
quality, that I am sending you by PM. For edit points you can use this youtube video as a guide to edit your 45 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u94-rsxEp6I cheers |

The 45 version was released as a "Digital 45" by Rhino and
is still available in lossless format on 7Digital and Qobuz. Search for "Takin' It To The Streets / For Someone Special". Edited by Brian W. |

The database (as well as forum members) should note the following:
The 45 promo has a label time of 3:20 and runs approximately 3:20. Some pressings of the 45 run longer. The 45 prof has one that runs 3:45. The LP version runs 3:58, original LP time states 3:56. The Digital 45 available online from Rhino is the 3:20. Numerous CD's have the 3:45 version and the database should be updated accordingly. |

That's an interesting find, Rich. I don't think anyone previously knew about a vinyl 45 running 3:45. I'd be interested in knowing more details about the pressing and matrix where it can be found.

Would the 3:45 versions in the db, instead of being labeled LP version faded early, actually match Bob's 45? A long 45 version?

I'm not convinced that the aforementioned 3:45 version did exist on a US 45, That version first appeared on 1976 vinyl LP 'Best Of The Doobies' to the best of my research.
Same edit as the 45, but not faded early like the 45 was. Andy |
