Gene, my stock 45 (Polydor 807 403-7) has a listed time of 3:37 and runs an actual 3:39.

At some point, I recreated the After Midnight 1988 single
version. Crossroads was my source and it runs 3:39.

Really! How odd... I'm going to have to check my source because I came up with 3:33 after trimming the silence.

I thought I sourced it from the Crossroads CD but maybe it was another source that did an early fade.

Whatever the case, I really appreciate the info!

Just adding that our rock station (WBAB on Long Island)
played this a lot when it was new and I'm pretty sure they
kept it in the regular rotation after that.

**In regard to the 1970 version**

I realize this is an old post and this may be old news, but I wanted to add what I know about the original topic. The '70s Atco LP of Eric Clapton contained the 2:50 version. When distribution of RSO switched from Atlantic to Polydor in the mid-'70s, the longer 3:10 version was substituted on reissues of the eponymous album. While all CD pressings of the album seem to contain the original LP length, the longer version can be found in digital on the Time Pieces comp.
